Giving back – Idol

Moved by the Idol Gives Back Foundation tonight on American Idol, I was extremely moved by the touching story of four brothers; the oldest being 15. They have lost everything to AIDS, and it was up to the 15 year old to continue to take care of the younger brothers. I’m sure that not one person that reads my blog can imagine the abhorrent life these children experience every day. Take a moment to think about how glamorous our lives are compared to these millions of children; just for a moment.

Most companies will match any contribution you make, you just need to call your HR department and find out. But I don’t say this to sway anyone to donate but it would mean extra food or medicine delivered to those in need.

As American Idol, plays in the background as I am writing this post — Great Britain just donated $200,000,000 and challenged other countries to step up. Wonder if America will.. hmmm. Hello Bush.

In closure tonight and following in the footsteps of the UK (go brits!), I challenge you to match my donation of $100. Give up a few things at dry cleaning, give up a couple nights out on the town…
